OverviewThe District Attorney's Office is looking for a Colorado POST-certified officer to join its Investigator Team.
What separates this position from other law enforcement positions is that we have an 8 am - 5 pm work schedule, with weekends and holidays off (paid holidays); we offer specialized assignments with training opportunities; and we provide a fulfilling and respected role as a peace officer with the ability to maintain connections to multiple law enforcement agencies and keep an active POST certification.
A person in this position conducts investigations on various matters at the direction of the District Attorney and provides staff assistance. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits a structured and established pattern. Under the flexible staffing concept, positions assigned to the Investigator I class may reasonably expect to progress to the II level with training, experience, and satisfactory job performance.
It is REQUIRED that candidates upload a Resume and cover letter addressed to Scott Rogers, Chief Investigator, District Attorney's Office, and a copy of their current Colorado POST certificate.ResponsibilitiesSpecifically, this position:
Performs a variety of professional investigative work relative to cases brought before the District Attorney; makes arrests of misdemeanor/felony suspects; testifies in court.
Initiates necessary criminal actions under prescribed procedures. Interviews witnesses, suspects, and concerned individuals; obtains statements, documents, and related information; gathers, assembles, preserves, and reports facts. Identifies, locates, and properly handles physical evidence.
Makes recommendations to attorneys as to the sufficiency of evidence to open formal investigations.
Assists in the preparation of cases for court and other legal proceedings. Initiates and investigates criminal cases and prepares necessary charging documents.
Performs sensitive investigations at the direction of the District Attorney regarding a variety of matters including those related to elected officials and law enforcement agencies.
Locates witnesses and evidence for the court; evaluates the credibility of testimony and evidence; prepares diagrams and other visual aids for courtroom presentation.
Coordinates investigative activities with outside agencies; assists in countywide investigations.
Maintains investigative and statistical records.

We Are Looking For a Candidate That Will
Have knowledge of criminal and civil investigation techniques and procedures. Guidelines related to the retrieval and sharing of criminal information. Standard police procedure regarding the use of force and arrest control techniques.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
Apply rules of evidence and court procedures. Applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Obtain information and evidence by observation, review of documents, and interviews.
Interpret and apply laws and regulations.
Maintain POST certification through attendance at mandatory training and firearms qualifications.
Use Law Enforcement equipment such as firearms, handcuffs, etc.
QualificationsAll candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
Four (4) years of law enforcement investigative responsibilities required.
Possession of a valid driver's license by date of hire required.
P.O.S.T Certification required.
